Location: Located in the eastern edge of the Yangtze Delta and faced to Pacific, Shanghai is in the mid-point of China's coastal line and has a perfect natural port and thus an easy transportation system.

Area: 6,340.5 square kilometers

Environment: Environment protection and construction is one of the important parts of the Shanghai's sustainable economic development strategy. The city's green space coverage will reach 20.2% by 2000.

Economic Development

Infrastructure: Two international airports, Shanghai Railway, one of the ten railway hubs in China, Shanghai Port, the biggest port in mainland, and water freight form the convenient transportation system. The inner city transportation comes into a 3 dimensional system consisting of express main roads, elevated highway, tracks and cross-river roads. Shanghai post and telecommunications currently has formed a multidimensional communication network with the involvement of various means such as satellite, microwave and submarine cable.
